I was born in New York City in November 1929. I married Jacquelyn Forde in Northport, New York in November 1952. My Mother was Grace A. Mehl-LaMonte who was born in Orange, New Jersey in 1907, attended Huntington High school, Huntington, Long Island, NY and Pratt University, New York City. Her Mother and Father were Grace A. Senior-Mehl and John S. Mehl, both born in New York City. My Grandmother's Mother was a Sheehan who married Wm. Senior. She was related to the Connells who had a furneral service in New York City and her husband worked there as a furneral director. I have no records of my Father (Raymond LaMonte or his Family other than a general Scott Bibliography for the LAMONT's My Father's family was originally Scottish (LAMOND/LAMONT, sons of the Chief who had to depart suddenly and left Scottland in the mid-1400's and settled in France. Two brothers who were en-nobiled by the King as Ducs ( One was: Robert de La Monte) Probably organized the SCOTT ECOLE, a guard force for the King. Came to the Americas' with the French Fur Trading Company. Settled in Nova Scocia and passed over into New England sometime before the American Revolution. My branch ended up in New York State, date of arrival unknown. My Grandmother said that my father's family still spoke French at home. Other elements of the family who stayed in Nova Scocia where removed by the English to the Louisianna Territory and relations were lost. Early French history was probably destroyed in the French Revolution since the family was alined with the king. My son visited Paris in 1964 and the only thing he could find was the name was not a French Name and the parisian historian opined that the name was Scottish. I have four children, Larremore John, Jacquelyn, Jeannette, And Michaelle. I have one younger brother, Edward Allen LaMonte who currently resides in Va. He has four boys, David, Robert. Larry and John, and one daughter, Gabrelle.
