About Our Family Research

I only decided to research our family history when I retired, it was then that I realised that I knew next to nothing having never bothered to listen to or ask my Mum about her family, a very big regret in my life.
Sadly I never even knew my Grandmothers maiden name (Lumbers)
it was only my sister , who's daughter had had a lesson in Geneology at her school who started me on the right track.
I was lucky enough to have a lot of replies from an advert I placed in a Local Paper and a Family History Magazine, this set me and my sister on a passage of discovery, we don't think our Mum knew what a large family she came from, or if she did , selected not to tell us.for reasons we will never know now.
Have found that Genes reunited has been a big help , having had replies from Canada and other places,
Lets hope my luck lasts, Valerie Lamb
