I am researching the Lanier family. Hardy Mills was born in Duflin County, North Carolina -- date unknown -- and died in 1833 in Alachua County, Florida. He was married to Melintha Mills. One of his sons, Isaac Mills Lanier (my great, great grandfather), resided in Alachua County until about 1849 and then moved to Hernando County. About 1870 he moved to the Kissimmee River Valley settling east of the river in Brevard County. He was a prominent cattleman in the Ft. Bassinger area. |
