My great-great-grandfather, named Jean Philippe emigrated to Bon Bon, Haiti from Guadeloupe. It is stated that he was a "Capitaine au Long Cours" which may also suggest that he was either a member of the French or Guadeloupean Army. He settled down with a woman by the name of Clormela Phipps-Joubert (she was the widow of Leonidas Joubert) and the couple had a son named Bruno Philippe who married Aurelie Merceron and they had a total of 9 children. If you have any information concerning any Philippe's of Haiti I would love to hear from you.
