Updated May 31, 2001

About Our Family Research

My Great Great Grandpaw was Jean Baptiste Lapeyrouse. This is the only information I know. Looking for someone with additional information:

In 1820, Jean Baptiste was living on Canal Street in New Orleans. He lived in New Orleans from 1810 until 1823 before moving his family to the Chauvin/Houma area. There is a street in New Orleans, Lapeyrouse Street, named after Jean Baptiste Lapeyrouse. He was a goldsmith at the time living around Esplanade Ridge, where the street is located.

On Sept. 20, 1842 J.B. Lapeyrouse and (son) Severin Lapeyrouse purchased land in the Chauvin area through the New Orleans Land Office. total of 162.9 acres.

Jean Baptiste Lapeyrouse may have married twice, unsure.
First marriage to Constance M. Henry in 8/16/1824 in Thibodeaux.
Second marriage to Antoinette E. Henry unsure of date/place.
