Edward Joseph LaBelle was born Adelard Joseph Levac, July 15, 1879 in Ste. Anne de Prescott, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Anselme Levac (Narcisse Levac & Josephte Seguin) and Edesse Courville, (Jean Baptiste Courville & Emelie Tessier Lavigne) of Ste. Justine de Newton, Quebec.

The 1881 Canadian Census shows Edesse Courville as widowed, living with her parents in Ste. Justine. Quebec. Ontario records confirm the death of Anselme Levac in St Anne de Prescott, Ontario.

Edesse Courville married Charles Labelle Oct. 24 1882 in Ste Justine, Quebec. 1900 U.S. census lists all family members living in Canton, New York.
