My grandson has been the focal or starting point of my research. Part of his ancestry can be traced back on his mother's side to the 1820 Settlers in South Africa. While I have some information relating to these people I know very little about them or their overseas ancestors.
On my side, I did not know either of my grandfathers. I have located the grave of my mother's father (William Henry Burrows)and learned that he was born in Nottingham, England. I am busy trying to obtain information about mygrandmothers (Susara Elizabeth Lombard and Wilhelmina Geertruida Katarina Cronje)but at this stage only know their names.
I have been told that my great great grandfather was Johannes Lautenbach who arrived at the Cape in 1784. I have some details of his wives but no information on his children or their children.
