My branch of the LAWRENCE family tree would appear to be centred around several small villages in South-East Somerset in the U.K. These are Norton sub Hamdon and Merriott. The oldest known relatives to date are Isaac and Sarah Lawrence who were born about 1790-1795 and married about 1815 in Merriott? and then set up home in Norton sub Hamdon where their first child was born. The family stayed in Somerset for several years until around 1890 when several of them moved to Arundel in West Sussex when as Stone Masons they were involved with the renovation of Arundel Castle. Many of the family members continued to be employed by the Estate as gardeners until recent times. My direct relatives then moved to Heathfield in West Sussex for a short time before moving to the Winchester area in Hampshire. I am going to Somerset shortly to fill in some more detail I hope.
