Chaboillez. Fur Traders and Voyageurs

Updated March 9, 2005

About Our Family Research

The first mention of this family comes with Jean Chaboulie who lived in Remy, France. At some time during the late 1600's his son Charles came to the "New World" Although he was a skilled sculptor and carpenter, his occupation was not carried on by his son Charles. The next three generations of this family were involved in the Fur Trade, the French name Chaboulie must have caused a great amount of confusion as there are well over 20 variations of the name. From prominence and wealth to poverty and obscurity, it seems this family did it all.

If your family was connected with the Fur Trade or they were in and around the Red River Settlement of Manitoba then they may be included on our website.
