Welcome to the Dawe Family Website! As a little girl I listened eagerly to stories my grandmother told me about her family. She was orphaned at 11 but had a deep love for her family, and instilled in me a sense of curiosity about my ancestors. I have studied my family tree extensively. It is a work still in progress, as most family trees are, and gives me hours of pleasure. I started with scraps of paper in the Family Bible which held dates of marraiges, births and deaths. I have a collection of headstones. I have visited churches and examined original documents. I have visited the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador. I have visited the Maritime Archives of Memorial University and the Newfoundland Research Room in the Arts and Culture Centre Library. I have spoken to relations, some of which I have never met. I have even called strangers in the hopes of filling in some blanks in my geanealogical quest. I have gathered baptism and marraige certificates, wills, territorial histories, photographs, etc. I have used pencil and paper, and a camera, and a tape recorder. Not to mention my computor which has included another valuable resource into my life- the internet. I thrive on the research. The challenge of fitting together a written family history for myself and my children. I offer this work as a loving tribute to those who came before me. And I joyfully share this information with any and all who show an interest in the fruits of my labour. So enjoy this site and please let me know your thoughts on it. Your comments will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Susan P. Lawrence (nee Dawe)
