My name is William Conrad Lawson. My Dad was Ernst Olaus Lofstrom, born in Boston, 1896. His parents, Konrad and Maria Lofstrom immigrated between 1890 and 1892, with 3 other children, Conrad Wilhelm, Elsa Maria, and Olga Josefina. An older son, Johan Mauritz, remained in Sweden. I was named after Uncle Conrad. Conrad and Ernest changed their name to Lawson about the time of WW1. Grandpa Konrad came over first, leaving in the Fall of 1890. When he got established, he sent for the rest of his family,in the Fall of 1892. I have traced Maria's voyage from Uppsala to Oslo to New York to Boston. I can only trace Konrad's voyage from Uppsala to Hamburg to Liverpool. The Hamburg folks gave me his date of departure, but the ship name they provided cannot be found by me. His trip to the US is a mystery so far. He was a member of a singing group, a trio I believe. It may be possible he stopped over in Liverpool for a period of time, I don't know when he left there, or arrived in US, or what city. It may be possible he travelled as a member of a ship's crew as an entertainer. It's likely he arrived before Ellis Island was operational.
