Planters & Foriegn Protestants

Updated November 27, 2002

About Our Family Research

My Ancestors consist mainly of Foreign Protestants and New England Planters who settled in Nova Scotia during the mid 1700's. Also, in the 1780's Loyalists started to arrive after fleeing or being forced from their homes in New York & New England. In 1784 several hundred Hessian Mercanaries recieved land grants after being discharged from the British Army, among them Cpl.Johann Michael Leithauser, the first 'Lightizer' to settle in the New World.
