About Our Family Research

This Light Family has its' American history starting about 1820s in the New York area. Story has it that Henry Light deserted the British Army while stationed in Canada. From the New York area Henry and his wife Saphronia move to Steuben Co. Indiana. The sons, Charles and William W. move to the Western part of Michigan in the late 1850s. It is recorded that William did serve during the Civil War with a Michagan unit. William's first wife Eliza Warring died in 1874, leaving 4 children, Adelbert O., Frank, Fred and Alice. William remarried and with Jennie and new son John moved west. Stopping in Nebraska, Kansas and finally Colorado. They had three more children along the way.
