In the 1850 Kenosha County WI census, William is listed as head-of-household. The Scott family is listed in the same house. Samuel Scott's occupation is given as "Accountant." Perhaps he works in William's grocery store.

There is also a 24 year-old woman named Margaret Hunt living in the house. She is two years younger than Bridget and was born in Ireland. Could she be Bridget's sister?

In the 1860 Kenosha County WI census, William states he has $2000 value in real estate and $500 in personal worth. I would assume the real estate is his store at Park and Main in Kenosha.

William's grocery business is listed in both the 1858 and 1861 Kenosha City Business Directories.
The 1858 listing reads: "McKillip, William, grocer, Park n Main, h same"
The 1861 listing reads: "McKilliss William, groceries, provisions and crockery, Park"
