We have found our great-grandfather, and now have our direct connection to Nicholas Holt. There are over 11,000 names in our file, so if you are looking for anyone in the Nicholas Holt line, please feel free to e.mail me, and I may have the answer for you.
This has been a unique learning experience. I have learned so much about the Revolutionary War, and I have actually found about 70 of the more than 150 Holts who served in the War. I have found cousins I never knew I had. I'm glad it's finished - it's taken me about nine months, and would have taken much, much longer, were it not for the book, Holt Family in the United States, where most of my information came from. The town history and stories on Ancestry.com. were also invaluable, as was the advice of a person I contacted after seeing Holts in her Tree. She told me to look at each one of the children in the Holt book, and see if I could come up with a result. I did that (it took several months) and did find my great grandfather.
