Lineage of Roger Gumm and William Morgan

Updated March 24, 2003

About Our Family Research

There are as many stories about the Morgan family name as there are Morgans located with in the United States. The Morgan name is a difficult name to trace all the way back to Ireland or England where its origins are believed to be. The Gum or Gumm name is to believe to have also originated from Ireland, however the language spoken by the early Gums to the states seemed to be of a Dutch dialect. It is much easier to trace the Gum family because of similar family stories with in each branch. "Leaves from the Gum Tree" by Muriel Martens Hoffman is a good starting point.
