This page is dedicated to the research of our Logan/Loggan ancestors. Our Logan line left Ireland from Belfast, aboard the ship Chichester, about 1767. They arrived in Charleston in January of 1768. The family quickly moved west (it's possible that they had family already here), and settled in the then District Ninety-Six. The district was later divided, and the area where they settled was changed to Laurens County. About 1800, William and John, sons of Thomas and Mary, left for the Northwest Territory, the section that would later become Franklin and Union Counties of Indiana. They were among the first settlers and land purchasers of the area. Our line has been in the same area for almost 200 years. While the original settlement no longer exists because of a reservoir, some of the original cabins were preserved at a museum in Dunlapsville, just north of the lake. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions!!
