I'm Alvina Lohmann Stokes from Burlington, Iowa. My father was Harry Lohmann. Born in 1885 or 86. He was born here in Iowa. My parents were divorced when I was five years old (1945). My grandfather Carl Frderich Wilhelm Lohmann owned the first German newspaper in Burlington, Iowa at the end of 19th century.
1st Generation was Karl Gottlieb Lohmann, born in Germany. His son, or one of his sons was Carl Frederick Wilhelm Ludwig Lohmann,(2nd Generation) 3rd generation Carl Heinrich Frederick Lohmann, Carl Charles, Friedricke Lohmann(daug), Minnie Lohmann (daug), Frederick Carl Lohmann, Lena Lohmann (daug).
My mother was Alvina Louise Brumm (maiden name).My mother was born August 9, 1909. She married three times. First husband was Charles Andreww Koett, they had 3 sons. Charles, Eugene, and Dalten.
Second husband was Lloyd or Floyd Titus, they had 2 sons, Lyle and Frank. Lyle died soon after his birth.
My mothers parents were John Brumm, and Rose Fehse, my mother had 2 brothers Floyd and Paul, and one sister Inez. They were all
born in the Burlington area.
Other family names are Phillip Brumm, and Sophya Meyers, married October 7,1878 in Burlington, Iowa. Their children were John, Mary Margaret, Rosa, Louisa.
My grandmother Rose Fehse Brumm. Parents were William August Fehse and Elizabeth Louisa Daries. They were married in Germany in 1861. All their children were Arthur William, Frank, Nellie, Rose and Adalph.
I know that Arthur Fehse married Mary Margaret Brumm.
Phillip Brumm was born in Berlin, Germany to Christopher Brumm and Julia Stein on July 27, 1845,died in Waterloo,Iowa June 20 1920.
Sophya Meyers was born Sept. 1, 1855 in Burlington ,Iowa to John Meyer and Dorthea Staler. She died in Waterloo, Iowa on May 15, 1920.
Elizabeth Louisa Daries parents were Fredrick Darie and Elizabeth Wemhoner.I don't believe they ever came to America to live.
