They came by ships from all parts Europe to settle in the new world called America. They were farmers, merchants, preachers, soldiers, teachers, blacksmith and many other trades. They traveled by horseback and many in covered wagons pulled by oxen or plowhorses, carting everything they owned with them through uncivilized land to fulfill their dream. They became a part of history as they carved out a life in this great nation fighting hostile Native America Indians, Wars and the elements for a better way of life for their children and generations to come. Some were also the original settlers of the areas we now know today as Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan Counties. They migrated to other areas Tattnall County, and into Wayne County Georgia. They became our family, each with their own stories to tell. In time I hope to piece together their story for all our family to meet the Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins of days gone by.
