My research centers on the Long family whose origins are Georgia; Fayette County, Alabama; and Burnet County, Texas.My great grandparents, William L. Long and Sarah Elizabeth Berry, moved with their parents from Fayette County, Alabama to Burnet County, Texas in 1867. They were married in Burnet, Texas in December 1868 and homesteaded nearby in the Mesquite Creek area. There they raised a family of ten children. W.L. Long was born in South Carolina April 15, 1845. His father was born in Georgia. Neither place of birth is known. My research this summer is aimed at locating this information.The Berry family history has been beautifully documented by Glenn Berry of Arab, Alabama in his book "Wagons South, Wagons West." |
