I would like to inform everyone that my new book has been a very big success. It is ready for printing with your family information confirmed before printing so you will have the latest information available. ENGLISH ONLY. After nineteen years of research on the Lebel family, I have finally stopped long enough to put it in print form. Earlier this year we printed a sample copy from my database with over 45,000 connected names to see just how big it was going to be. It was a surprise to find out it was over 2500 pages. We went to a print shop to see what it would cost to make copies and that was a shocker, over $450.00 per copy if we got ten copies at a time. That was out of the question, and I am sure we could find a less expensive printer, but at even half that amount it would still be unreasonable for most people. So we have come up with two solutions. One being a CD ROM. Many of you have computers and could view the book and pictures on your computer, and still print some or all of the book on your own printers. Many Libraries have this capability. This has been done and is available. The price of the CD ROM complete with the free ADOBE 4.0 reader on the CD, is $35.00 AMERICAN. (Shipping included) The second solution was to break the book into the four lines of Nicolas, our first ancestor in Quebec, Angelique(753 pages), Joseph Henri(160), Jean(320), (Joseph Henry and Jean are combined in one binder), and Nicolas(1190 pages, 352 pictures), (Nicolas is in two binders). All books have there own separate Table of contents and index’s and include the line up to CLEMENT LEBEL. We can print the four books at a cost of $85.00 American, PLUS SHIPPING . This is 2 ½ reams of 24# paper, three black cartridges, and two color cartridges, so we are not making anything on this, just trying to recover costs and get the book to the people that want it. (Shipping estimates at ‘Book Rate’ is about $8.00. This is printed on an Epson printer at 720dpi, on good paper. The printer is capable of 1400dpi, but excessive bleed through results in unuseable back sides of the paper, unless picture print paper at $.25/sheet were used, which again puts it out of the question. There are over 600 pictures in the book, I must admit about 40 are of my family and life in Van Buren, Maine. Of course the full resolution of the pictures and magnification is possible using the Adobe Reader on the CDROM. If you e-mail or write to us with your name, father’s name, mothers maiden name, we will check to make sure your family is in the book. If it is not, we will reply with what we have and if you wish to include the information, we will add it to the book before we print your copy. (One of the advantages of printing it ourselves) We will enclose a sample page in a letter to you before we print the book or burn your CD. I still have over 900 Lebel’s that I still cannot connect into the Data Base. You have the option of adding pictures and information of your family that I do not have before we print your copy. Any pictures will be scanned and added to the book in the proper place, indexed, and returned to you with your book, or sooner if you desire them back quicker. We can offer this opportunity because we are doing the printing and making the CDROM’s. If you are interested please send a letter of your intent, and whether or not you have additional information to be added or an e-mail to waltjoan@juno.com . It will take a week to print a copy of the book, bind it in spiral binders, package it and ship it out. We have made CDROM’s for the family members with computers and they love it. The ADOBE READER is easy to use, and it is being used for many internet documents, and all US Government documents. It does not require a very fast computer. Several are using 486's and doing fine. Of course you must have a CDROM drive on the computer. Joan Lebel Lorenc
