My branch of the Stafford family stems from Ethelred Stafford of New Orleans,Lousianna. He had at least 2 brothers. My research is trying to find who preceeded Ethelred. On one census it says that he was born in South Carolina and another says North Carolina. My father, Edw. Stephen Stafford, told us that there was a Methodist minister in the family. His father, Charles Burke Stafford, claimed to be a 7th generation American in a brief that he wrote for the Federal Supreme Court. One of my great uncles was a Lousianna State Senator, Ethelred Macaule Stafford. I am one of 4 living decendents of CBS, 1 boy and 3 girls. My brother has a son, who also has a son. We continue to be doctors, lawyers, and writers, with a new addition, music. We are very spread out but do manage to visit each other at least once a year. We have always wondered if we could discover who the 1st-4th Staffords were and where they lived. So I have put on my librarian detective hat. I appreciate all contacts.
