Notes for C Lee Lowry: Carl Lee Lowry [Jr.], known as "Little Lee", "Lee-boy", "Lee-bo", and Lee was born at the Sample Sanitarium on North Fulton St. in Fresno on July 15, 1926. [Parents lived in Auberry, northeast of Fresno, and moved to Fresno about 1928-1929.] He attended public schools: Webster and John Muir Elementary, and Washington Jr. High in Fresno; Jefferson Grammar and Clovis Union High in Clovis, Calif. During World War II, he enlisted in the US Navy V-5 program and on July 1, 1944 was sent to Arizona State College at Flagstaff which he attended for two semesters, after which, due to failing marks, was sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station for "boot camp". Subsequently was sent to Norman, Oklahoma; Miramar Naval Air Station, San Diego; San Bruno Training Center; The Navy News, Agana, Guam; and was discharged at Camp Shoemaker at Pleasanton, Calif. on June 15. 1945. Upon discharge he returned to Fresno and lived with his parents. He worked as a parts boy and helper for about 6 mos. for Schedler & Dinsmore, an automotive engine rebuilding firm, where Ed Harrison, his uncle was shop foreman, and where his father was employed as a machinist. He next worked as helper to George Zenovich, a car painter for about 6 mos. In January 1947 he enrolled at Fresno State College in pre-engineering. In September 1948 was accepted at UC Berkeley and was graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering in February 1951. He worked for San Francisco Bay Toll Crossings of the Department of Public Works of the State of California as a Jr. Civil, Ass't Civil and Ass't Bridge Engineer during design of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge from March 1951 until March 1953. He worked for O. J. Porter and successors from May 1953 until April 1960. In the spring or early summer of 1956 he met Jeri Faria at the Airways Golf Club in Fresno. After dating for some time they were married in Las Vegas on April 26, 1958. They were divorced in 1960. There were no children from this marriage. In April, 1960 he entered the partnership of LOWRY & associates with Bruce McCreary and Leland Roberts. In 1962 he purchased Robert's interests and he and McCreary changed the partnership into a corporation. He subsequently bought out McCreary's share over a period of years. In 1962 he met Joan Taylor, their first date was arranged by Bruce McCreary, and they were married September 1, 1962. Collin was born April 7, 1964 and Laura on May 28, 1968. This marriage ended in divorce. In 1992 he sold the assets of LOWRY & associates and has thoroughly enjoyed retirement, playing golf and delving into the intricacies of genealogy. In 2004 he washed his Medicare card, in the process of getting a new one he was informed he evntually would have to change all of his "Identity" cards to reflect that he was Carl Lee Lowry. Since he had been known as "Lee Lowry" most of his life and had gone by C. Lee Lowry for about 50 years, he decided to legally change his name. As of December 7, 2004 he became C Lee Lowry!
