Information obtained from the National Archives shows Robert R. Lowery enlisted May 5, 1863 at Hawkins County, Tennessee and was Mustered into Company C, 8th Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry, U. S. A. at Camp Nelson, Kentucky on June 30, 1863 for an enlistment of 3 years. He was mustered out on September 11,1865. His place of birth was shown as Iredell County, North Carolina.
