The Jersey Luces

Updated March 19, 2001

About Our Family Research

I cannot at the moment give any detailed account of the Luce family tree, but my great aunt May has conducted more detailed research and I will add this to the page as soon as I get my mitts on it.
What I can say is that it is most likely that the name Luce first came to the British Isles following the Norman conquest of Britain in 1066. At that time, the Channel Islands were annexed to the Dutchy of Normandy and ever since have been a part of Britain.
Members of the Luce family would have been given estates in England in recompense for their service to William, Duke of Normandy.
My grandfather Ernest and his sisters Ella, May and Joyce still reside in Jersey along with my fathers' youngest sister Jean. My father and his other siblings, Margaret and John, live off the island, as do I and my two sisters, Joanne and Karen.
