A friend of the family commenced our family tree research as we had no idea of how to get started and did a wonderful job with the information so far. My family history starts with my mother and her siblings being abandoned as young children and brought up as wards of the state in Tasmania Australia by a single woman who was known as Miss Parker.
To date we have been able to trace my mother's father's family back to New Zealand after immigrating from Scotland. My quest now is to complete that search and also fill in the blank spaces on my mother's mother's side of the family.
My father (dec'd) was brought up in a boy's home in Tasmania and all known relatives to provide information are deceased. He met his mother around the age of 30 for the first time and had no idea as to who his father was.
Not knowing our family history has contirbuted to a feeling of "lost" with both my brothers and myself and I know that finding out where we came from will help to settle us down in our presently happy lives.
