I have just started to research my family tree and it is therefore not as detailed as I would hope it will become. I'm 17 and about to start a degree in history at Glasgow University, Scotland, and thought that my own family history would be a good place to start! I must admit, tracing my ancestors is much more difficult than I thought it would be. Finding out about my father's side of the family was much more easy because of my Grandmother's amazing box of family "rubbish", containing fascinating photos, letters and certificates (birth, marriage and death) and it was therefore not that difficult to work out who married who. However, there came a point in which I hit a brick wall as my Grandmother's, grandmother and grandfather changed their name as they moved to Scotland from Lithuania. My mother's side has also been difficult because I don't have access to any of the resources that I had on my father's side which acted as a brilliant starting point!
