Genealogy has been a hobby of mine for over 30 years. It all started when I discoved three family Bibles in a box of old books that came from the family farm in RADNOR, OH. One Bible was from the late 1750's while another was from the early 1800's.
Genealogy is a huge jigsaw puzzle that can be rewarding when you are able find a missing piece. You correspond with many people who are so helpful in connecting ancestors from different states. Pioneer ancestors moved continually and it is a mystery to solve as to where they came from and where they went. It is a hobby that can last a lifetime because there is always another line to trace. You sometimes find that you have ancestors from many countries. It would be very difficult to keep an old country culture when you descend from English, Welsh, Irish, Scotch, Dutch, German & French. I've become an American not a Dutch American or Welsh American. When I'm asked about my ethnic background I explain that "I'm just an American mutt".
