You seem to imply in you Giffin Archive posting on rootsweb, that Robert and Andrew II are first cousins. "Some of my mother's ancestry goes back to Robert and Mary BANE GIFFEN who migrated from Campbeltown, at the south end of the Kintyre Peninsula, Co. Argyll, Scotland in 1776. Some of our family historians had information that the name was spelled -EN in Scotland. However, the descendants of a first cousin of Robert who was born in Pennsylvania, USA, in 1743, same year as Robert b. in Scotland, and also some of Robert's descendants spelled it -IN. So I guess we're all related."
I have been trying to document this. That would make John, born about 1717, the weaver from Kilvadee and Robert's Father the brother of Andrew I who married Agnes Nesbit. How do you come to this conclusion? I am descended through Robert, George, Robert, William H, William P., and my Mother June Giffin, page 112 of the Giffen book, 1927. Please let me know what information you have and also if I can be of any help to you. I live within minutes of the Old Tent Cemtery where Robert and Mary Bane Giffen are buried. I have digital photos of all the grave markers of my direct line and some other Giffins.
