The Maini Family Tree "1770 - 2005"

Updated August 22, 2007

About Our Family Research

Dear Family Members,

The idea of making a MAINI FAMILY TREE has come to the minds of few of us. Now, when the world is becoming like one family on this earth, it is nice to know first, our immediate family roots and places of origin. Most of our maini brothers and sisters are settled all over the world and yet when they meet, some of them feel as good as strangers!

This little piece of information is slightly different from a conventional Family Tree as it contains the names of both male and female members of the Maini family. Although the name of some members have not been available, the identity is denoted by adding 'S' or 'D' (son or daughter) after names or without names in some cases (mainly India branches). The female Maini generations should feel proud of their origins and realize the importance of being part of a prestigious dynasty originated in North India or could be Persia.

Although this information is most basic containing no more than just the names of sons and daughters in the families, it definitely gives you the structure of the dynasty and pin points the position of each member, male or female, in appropriate branches.

Please note that in some cases, the order of the male and female members might not be accurate due to lack of direct communication and contact.

This little piece of information is compiled through combined efforts of most of the members from different branches. Every family who is included in this Maini Family Tree, did their best to pass on maximum details to make the task easy. Our thanks to all of you!

It may be inappropriate to say that it is a 100% complete record of the Maini Family Tree. As it stands, there are lots and lots of “Jigsaw pieces" missing from the tree mainly due to lack of communication and contacts. We hope some of you will make an effort to trace those missing names and add on to the tree.

Please note that the dates of birth calculated for the first few generations are based on rough estimates. The only date of birth which is correct is that of Nauhria Ram Maini. Hence based on this true record the other dates have been roughly estimated. Secondly the age gap between the family generations is estimated at about 15-25 years and for our record, has been calculated at an average of 20 years. There is a possibility that during that period men got married quite young that is between the ages of 15-25 years. It could also be due to the fact that the names of female generations during this period are missing.

For example, my grand mother (Radhi dai Maini w/o Nathu Ram Maini) used to tell us during their young days that her husband was about 12/13 years old and she was about 6/7 when they were already married. We are sure their might be other such cases when marriage took place quite early in life.

Finally I would like to state that this rough draft is the best I could present but I hope you will nevertheless find it useful.

I hope the coming generations will take interest in continuing to build on what has been offered to them as a sound base.

Please try to distribute this information of our Maini Family tree to all the members of your particular branch. By doing so it will make our task easier.
