JAMES GARDNER OF BUTLER COUNTY, PA

Updated April 24, 2005

About Our Family Research

Hearing friends talk about their ancestors and research made me curious about my ancestors. Where did they come from and why? I remember my paternal grandfather telling me that his grandparents came from Baden, Germany, and that someone in his mother's family was the lone survivor of an Indian raid.
After some research, I learned that one ggg-grandfather was James Gardner who was in Butler Co, PA, by 1815. A family story says that our Gardners came from Ireland through Baltimore. But, who were James' parents and where was he born? We know our Gardners were Protestant Scots-Irish, but James converted to Catholicism when he married Martha "Molly" McAnallen. Her father, Patrick, had been born in Ireland. Many questions remain.
In December of 2004 VirtualBookworm.com published a book compiled by me with the help of several cousins. The information on this home page is taken from the book, "Gardner, Ralston, McAnallen & Fehrenbach Family History".
If you are connected to any of these families, please contact me. Thank you, Bea
