The Hulik family first appears in the records of Nymburk, Bohemia
around the year 1600.

The first Hulik to move to Kolin, Bohemia was Matej Hulik, born about 1710. Four more generations were born in Kolin. The original immigrants to the United States (from Kolin) were Jan Hulik, born April 7, 1849 and two of his three sons, Josef, born August 8, 1869 and Frantisek, born September 22, 1877. They were the founding members of the American Huliks.

A branch of the Hulik family remains to this day in Prague.
