Hardy (Hardin)was my Grandmothers side of the family. Her name was Lula Mann (married name). She was married to Lorenzo Mann and had eleven children, Olen Mann was my father. The story goes her dad killed a man in Al. (becaused the man raped and murdered my Great Grandmother). They say my great grandfather was a very dark indian, and because of that he knew he would probably be hung so he took the three children the oldest was a girl Leona, George, and Lula, and left Al. and moved to Texas. While in Texas Leona fell in love with their hired hand and married a guy with the last name Day, My great grandfather was so upset he told her he never wanted anything to do with her. He took George, and Lula and made his way to Ok where he finally settle near Checotah, and Eufaula. Never to see Leona again. They say my great grandfather was a real mean man who loved to drank, and because he was running from the past he never register for a roll number. Some say he was as dark as a colored person, but none of his offsprings carried that gene. My father was dark and really looked Indian. My mother was Irish, between them they had fourteen children.
If anyone knows the history, I would appreciate hearing from you. This is all I know, and my history of the family may be somewhat wrong. I would love to hear from some of the Hardy side of the family. I have never met any of my Grandmothers side of the family.
