I have been searching the background of the Manigaults(Manigo), Millers, Thinnas, Griffins, Greens, and Palmers families for several years. This research has taken me to the National Archives in Washington, D.C., South Carolina State Archives, Boston, Mass., New Jersey, New York, St. Kitt, Jamaica, Wilmington, NC, and Virginia among other places or sites. This has been interesting, challenging and rewarding as it has just blossomed and grown in size and scope. It has led me to reunions, weddings, funerals, and graveyards just to learn as much as I can about the genesis of the family.
The Manigaults/Millers/Thinnas/Griffins/Greens/Palmers roots as far as I have researched it stem from Charleston, Colleton, and Berkeley Counties in South Carolina. There are variations on the spelling of Manigault even within my family. Some families spell it as Manigault, or Manigo but even with this variation of spelling, these relations are as close as brothers and sisters. The Thinnas also have variations when it comes to the spelling. Some variations of this has been Thinna, Tinner, Tiner, Thina, and Thinner. With all these variations of spelling it has been challenging to learn the relationship among the families. I will continue to search until I have learned as much and can go back as far as I can in learning about the families.
If you care to assist me, or have knowledge of any of the listed families as it stemmed from South Carolina or North Carolina, my email address is manigault_louis@msn.com Looking to hear from you.
