My name is Sue Ann Mandala. My father Bobby Edward Smallwood is an only child born in Hudson Florida 1930 to Joseph Hunter Smallwood and Alice S. Landrum. his grandmother [also Alice S.Landrum] had 8 brothers and sisters all born in Branford, Florida. Eula, Mary, Edna, Martha, Alice {Susie}, Alma, Methie, Willie, and Jim. My father was adopted by my grandmothers second husband. She changed my father's name to Bobby Edward Swails. He never got to know his Smallwood family until he was a grown man. He did meet his father before he passed away in Ruskin, Florida. My grandmothers parents were Alice S. Landrum {Keel} and James Landrum. Alice was born in Texas and James in Alabama. I think.
What I need is information on the Landrum family history. It has been a big secret and no one seems to want to tell me anything. I am 50 years old and it's time for some answers. I think James's parents were in the "trail of tear" as a member of the Downing family. James's father married a Cherokee and lived with them. Alice Keel I have been told was a captive of a different tribe and her parents were killed by them. All stories. I want to get some facts. If anyone can help me. please do so. Sue Ann
