Tobias Allen Thacker

Last Sunday evening at 4 o'clock, Tobias A Thacker, one of the best known citizens of the south part of this county, died at his home, two miles east of Donnellson, of heart failure.
Tobias, or "Uncle Tobe," as he was known to everyone, was born in Marion County, Kentucky. February 23, 1825. In 1832 he came to this state and settled in Bond County. In a year or two afterwards he moved to Monthomrty County and settled upon the farm where he resided up to the day of his death.
On May 3, 1849, he was married to Miss Sarah R Mc Caslin, who survies him. He also leaves surviving him eight grown sons and three daughters. His sons are: Logan, who lives in Kearney, Nebraska; Timothy of Pocahontus; Robert, of Mulberry Grove; Heston, who is a teacher at Honey Bend; Preston, of Donnellson; Frederick, who teaches school at Walnut Grove; Finis, of Sorento and Edward, of East Fork township.His daughters are Ms. Wm. Levery of this township; Ms. Peter Warick of Bond County, and Miss Bertha who is at home.
