Abner Thacker (son of Benjamin Aker Jr. Thacker and Anna Grubbs) was born Abt. 1795 in Virginia, and died 07 Jun 1856 in Sorento, Illinois, USA. He married Naomi Jenkins on 10 Dec 1817 in Barren CountyKentucky.

Abner came to Illinois with his brother Allen Thacker about (1826-1829). According to family history he has 4 children when he came to Illinois, and 5 more were born after 1830. He was noted to be a great hunter and a carpenter.

Abner Thacker was born in 1790(5), in Virginia. He was the son of Benjamin and Anna ( Grubbs ) Thacker, Jr. Abner moved to (Kentucky with his father prior to 1810. He was living in his father's household in Garrard County, Kentucky, per the 1810 United States Census. Abner was a cabinet maker and a farmer. He was a great hunter and was said to have hunted with Daniel Boone. Abner 1st marriage was to Jane / Irene Jenkins on Wednesday, December 10th, 1817 in Barren County, Kentucky. Reverend Wm. Warder performed the ceremony. Philip Jenkins gave his consent - it was not stated whether he was her father or a relative. Abner was listed as the head of a household living in Barren County, per the 1820 U.S. Census and moved to Illinois around 1826-28. He was a pioneer of LaGrange Precinct, Bond County, Illinois. Abner was also a carpenter and a hunter. The 1840 U.S. Census shows him living in Bond County, Illinois, with a family of 9 members: Abner, Jane, Henry C., Mary, John, Hannah Jane, Eliza Ann, Francis Marion and James Jenkins. In 1850, Abner owned 300 acres in LaGrange Township. The 1850 Census recorded that he had five children: John, 20male; Hannah, 16 female; Elisia/Elisaco A., 14female; Francis/Frescima M., 12male; and James, 7male. They were all born in Illinois per the census. Jane must have died prior to the 1850 census since she was not mentioned.

Abner's 2nd marriage was to Hannah Harriet Lowe on Sunday, December 7th, 1851 in Bond County. They became the parents of Louisa Elizabeth and George. It is believed that Abner was killed on June 7th, 1856 by a falling beam while building a home near Sorento. June 17th, 1856 was the date of his last will and testament. Hannah was born on Wednesday April 26th,1826 in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Sarah Lowe. Sarah was born in 1800 in North Carolina. The Lowe's were neighbors of Abner's per the 1850 census records. Hannah first married James L. Lowe on November 15th, 1844. James was born on January 25th, 1812 and he died on August 11th, 1849. Hannah's third marriage was to Nicholas Mitchell on January 30th, 1857 in Bond County, Illinois. N.Washburn, J.P. performed the ceremony. they had Sarah J., Stephen A. Douglas, James E., and John F. Hannah had lived several years in Honey Point, Macoupin County. Her home was on the angular stage coach road between Litchfield and Carlinville and she had provided food and comforts for the stage coach passengers and horses. Later she lived part-time with her son, Jim, and part-time with her daughter, Louisa, who lived in Perkins, Oklahoma. Hannah died in June of 1917 in Perkins, Oklahoma and was also buried there.
