View Tree for Annie Lutisha GreenAnnie Lutisha Green (b. June 16, 1887, d. August 12, 1936)

Annie Lutisha Green (daughter of Andrew Jackson Green and Sarah Elizabeth Polk) was born June 16, 1887, and died August 12, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Includes NotesNotes for Annie Lutisha Green:
Annie Lutisha Green nickname was Lula.

Note from Mrs. Anne Free about Annie Lutisha "Lula" Green on her research:

On the 1910 census of Saine Parish she was 23 years old, therefore the C.A. year of her birth would be 1887, other information has her born 16 June 1879 in Sabine Parish, Many, Louisiana. This date would have to be incorrect, since her half-brother, William Madison "Matt" Green was born in 1881, and her mother & father got married in 1885. She died 12 Aug. 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK. and is buried in Sunny Lane Cemetery--Oklahoma City, OK. According to the Oklahoma City newspaper Aug, 1936--she was 56 years old when she died therefore she would have been born in 1880, and as already stated a above this would also have to be incorrect. Not only is the discrepancies about her date of birth, there's also discrepancies as to her name. Some sources of information has said her name was Lula Alford, but according to her grand-daughter Rose Bush, who lives at Preston Ga., her name was Anna Lutishia Green. Even the Spelling Lutishia varies, Luetisha, & Lutitia.

If a marriage record could have been found, it would have cleared up, hopefully, the discrepancy of her name, but there's no record of her marriage to Henry Jackson Birdwell, Jr. At the courthouses in Sabine, DeSoto, or Natchitoches Parishes, Therefore, More research was necessary.

A court record was found at the courthouse in Sabine Parish, Many, Louisiana--"Tutorship of minors of H. J. Birdwell, Jr. --pages 509 - 512, dated 29 Nov. 1919, which is being included in the information on this family. In this record it only listed Henry Jackson Birdwell, Jr.'s wife as Annie L., and as Mrs. Annie L. Ballard.

On the 1910 Census of Sabine Parish, La. on the family it had Annie L. After Henry Jackson Birdwell died, 22 May 1912, she remarried. The marriage is recorded at the courthouse in Sabine Parish, Many, La. for J. J. Ballard and Mrs. Lula Birdwell married 10 Jan. 1917. They moved to Oklahoma and they had 5 Children. Information on these children is being included because they are half brother and sister to the children of Henry Jackson Birdwell, Jr. and Lula. J. J.'s and Lula's only daughter--Ruby Lois Ballard is the Mother of Rose Marie (Smith) Bush, who has been doing research on the Green family. After receiving some information from Rose in Dec, 1998, I begin to do some research on the Green family in Natchitoches and Sabine Parishes, at the courthouses, census' at the Libraries, cemetery Records, church records and School records, & etc., finding some information on Lula's brothers and sisters, but nothing on Lula.

After contacting some Green's in Sabine Parish and finding they weren't related to the Green's that was Lula's family, I contacted some Green's in DeSoto Parish-Mansfield, la. - Dalton Green, & his sister, Hilda (Green) English, and their first cousin-M.D. "Doug" Billingsley, at Pelican-DeSoto Parish, La. At last all the research had paid off. "Doug" had done some research on the Green family, his mother was Emma Ruth Green, the daughter of William Madison "Matt" Green, who was Lula's half brother.

Doug faxed copies of some of his research on this Green family to Rose Bush in Prestion, Ga., and she made copies of it and sent to me.

In Doug's research was a partial copy of a court record Record at the courthouse in DeSoto Parish, Mansfield, La. of William M. Gree; petition to the Judge of the 12th Judicial district court. In this record it stated that Lizzie Green, wife of Louis Alford, residents of Sabine Parish, was married to Jack Green, deceased, and that W.M. Green, Jesse Green, Ennis Green, Nineteen years of age, and Cassie Green sixteen years of age are issue of said marriage. (The said minors hadecertain property to be administered) and that it is necessary that a tutor be appointed to said heirs. It also stated that William M. Green, their half-brother, was appointed tutor, and their brother Jesse Green was appointed under tutor of the said minors.

This court record was dated 17 March 1914. It listed five of the children of Jack and Lizzie Green, but didn't List "Lula," who was already married, but it listed Sallie, who was also married.

In some of "Doug" Billingsley's noes he stated that "Jack" and Lizzie had 3 daughters.
Lutitia who married and Birdwell, Sallie, who married "Jess"- Jessie Alford, and Cassie who married a Robert Marr.

In reference to the above the said minors had certain property to be administered.
The fooling description of the property was obtained from the court record and the tax assessors office in DeSoto parish, Mansfield, Louisiana.
Two eighty Fourths(2/84 undivided interest in and two the east half (e1/2 of NE 1/4 (North East Quarter of Section twenty - six (26), of Township twelve (12), North of Range Fuebie (12) West Louisiana Meridian.
Said interest appraised at $20.00. The property is located in Ward 5- 3 miles south of Naborton, in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.-- From Mansfield on Hwy. 84-turn on to the 522 Henry Williams Rd. is SW of this property.
this property is now owned by Ben Johnson wife-Virginia Rives-inherited it from "Will" Nabors (who owned the business, Nabors Trailers in Mansfield and his wife. Virginia was raised by Mrs. "Will" Nabors, who was her Aunt.
