Jean-Marie Ducharme (son of Joseph-Jean Ducharme and Marie Therese Trottier) was born 1723 in LaChine, QC, and died 1807. He married Marie-Angelique Roy Portelance on 02 Aug 1761 in Sault-au-Recollet, QC, daughter of Louis Roy and Angelique Alaire.

In 1761 he lived in Green Bay, and cousin Laurent Ducharme,(a trader out of Michilimackinac) until 1764 when they were prosecuted at Niagara with other traders who sold ammunition to the Native Americans. In 1772 he was hiring voyageurs for the "Illinois" financed by Jacques Bernard, but by 1773 trading on the Missouri River (Spanish Territory), arrested by the Spaniards and taken to St. Louis. In 1777 he was licensed to 2 canoes to Prarie du Chien and the following year led western warriors in a British attack on Spanish St. Louis.
