Conrad (Coonrod) Huffman is only found on the Baxter/Searcy Co census of 1880. His birth date was 1811, birth place was Tn. He reared a family with Melinda Isophene Murray bn 1842 (census says Pn). Conrad died at Big Flat Ark in 1914 and was buried at Rock Creek Cemetary. Melinda died near Cleveland Ark (either in 1919, or 1923). She lived there with her youngest son, Jess Huffman.
Conrad had at least one brother, his name being Aaron, who may have migrated to Ohio. This is the only known sibling or ascendent known by his family at this time.
Conrad and Melinda's children were: Leonard, bn 1864 (is said to belong to another wife of Conrad, but not yet proven), William H. (possibly Hershiel), Emily I, (only daughter), bn abt 1869, Isic E. (Issaic), bn about 1873, Aron Conrad, (Coonie) bn abt 1876, Douglas Co Mo, John, Nathaniel, (Nat, Nattie), bn abt 1880, and Jess.
Conrad had abt 160 acres of land in Marion Co which was also listed in the land records as being in Searcy Co Ark which was not legally filed until 1906. William H Huffman also filed on the same dates, on the same land. Due to Conrad's age, (in his nineties in 1906) he may have failed to register until this date.
The property was in a place which came to be known as Huffman's Knob at Big Flat, Ark. There is also a place called Huffman's Gap.
Conrad was said to have come from Missouri, probably from either Douglas, Ozark or Taney Co.
