I started this reseaarch about three years ago, on line with little more than my husband's name, Matheson. Using the surname questions and replys I found a relative in Australia who led to another Austrialian relative who led to a distant cousin living in Michigan! What a thrill for the two Matheson men to embrace their long lost cousin they didn't even know existed! In Michigan we saw the barn of their great grandfather and read letters written by their gg grandfather. And now I have what will probably prove to be an impossible task--find out what happened to Thomas Matheson who used his pay from the Civil War to finance a trip down the Mississippi River and was never heard from again!
