I hope that this family tree will shed some light on our ancestors and give us some insight into our roots. I started doing a little research in November 2001, and hope to add to it as I learn each new detail of our heritage. It is challenging, rewarding and fun to try and gain knowledge about our past. Just when I think I am making progress, I come up against a stumbling block that locks me into the present instead of setting me back a 100 years like I wish it would.
I never knew my paternal grandparents as they had both died before I was born. I don't really know much of anything about them, if they had brothers and sisters, how long they were married, how they met, where they were from etc.
I did know my maternal gradparents and enjoyed the time we had together. Again, I knew very little about them too, and did not think to ask them about their roots when they were alive.
I do not want my son to have to wonder where his roots are, so I am trying to gather the information to pass on to our future generations.
