The Maxwells came from Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada in the area around Rockport and Sackville. I have traced the line back to Gersham Maxwell, born June 7, 1758. He married Nancy Tower in Sackville on January 19, 1778.
Gersham's son, Gideon Maxwell was born on February 17, 1797. He married Jemima Wheaton in 1817. Gideon died on December 28, 1859 and is buried in the Rockport Cemetery in Westmorland County.
Gideon's son, Gershom Maxwell was born in 1829. He married Emily Jane Tower on March 4, 1851. Gershom died on October 27, 1910 and is buried in the Rockport Cemetery in Westmorland County.
Gershom's son, Clarendon Maxwell was born in Rockport on December 6, 1862. He married Laura Martina Downing in Berlin, New Hampshire, USA on January 31, 1894. Clarendon died on June 28, 1952 and is buried in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Clarendon's son, Maurice Gershon Maxwell was born in Saint John on November 27, 1904. He married Ellen Theresa O'Brien in Saint John, New Brunswick on October 9, 1940. Maurice died on June 15, 1988.
