The Ford / Nesby of Texas (Austin)

Updated January 27, 2003

About Our Family Research

The story is told that Harry Ford of Viginia was born a slave in 1816. He was sold to North Carolina and met Liza and had three children born to him. From them came Elijah, Long, and Eliza. There was a great flood in North Carolina and the owner (Giles, not known if first or last name) died in the flood. The family had to sell everything see that the plantation was destroyed. Liza Ford died, and Harry, Eliza, and Long were moved back to Virginia. My ancestor was sold to a general named Nesby in the territory that is today known as Texas. General Nesby was killed due to a gun shot wound from the Civil War. Elijah and the general were very close, thus Elijah changed his name to Nesby. Little is known (from our end) whether or not if Long and Eliza also dubbed this name for themselves. Little is known of any other offspring of Harry Ford. But we (I especially) of this family tree welcome all the richness any of your ancestory has to offer, from any period or any person, despite how it got started. We're here, and it will be nice to just say, "Hey I'm related to ......." So I invite you to contact me. Some of us on this Tree know about this site and many don't, So allow me to extend a WELCOME YA'LL. (We say ya'll, but don't have a deep country drawl, at least the ones I know don't.)

Thank You, Site owner,

Coy Mays (Coy.Mays@mail.uh.edu)
