This is the beginning of my research into my family ancestry. At this time I know next to nothing about my father`s family but I do want to know. My father is Austin Cloud Mayes, my grandfather is Sam C. Mayes and my great grandfather`s name I believe was William Mayes, all of Texas. I also want to find out more about a possible family connection with the Comanche tribe through William Mayes` wife, whose name I think was Kathleen Cruse.
My grandfather, who had been dead for a few years before I was born, had been a Texas Ranger for around 20 years, leaving the Ranger around 1934. I believe he is buried somewhere near Dripping Springs TX, something I hope to confirm soon.
I am interested in talking to anyone who may have more information or who I might be related to! The search has begun!
