My Bell,Shirley,Senter,And Perkins Family of West Virginia

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

My family is very complicated to trace.I have been searching for about two years now,and it still is not complete. We are of Irish,Scottish, and American Indian Descent. On my father's side of the family we have the Bell and Shirley Ancestry. This is where most of our Cherokee Ancestry comes in,on the Bell side.We descend from Pocahontas,Nancy Ward,Dragging Canoe, and many more.I am very proud of this discovery and have met many interesting and helpful people and cousins through my searching. My Bell and Shirley Ancestor's originally came from Maryland and Ohio, and Philidelphia, and Va.And West Virginia. They are scattered far and wide, like leaves on the wind. The Senter and Perkins family are very difficult to trace, noone has kept up with any of the family history.I do not know exactly where the Perkins have originated from, this is my brickwall. My Grandmother was Ada Perkins Senter. Her father was John Perkins.Ada was born in 1908 and died in 1956.I am told she was 4/4 Indian.I am sure it was Cherokee. She supposedly used Roots and Herbs and Bark of Tree's to make Indian Medicine. She married Ernest Joseph Senter,my Granfather on my Mother's side. His family came from Va.and Surry County N.C.I am told that the Senter Family has a reunion every year in Sept.at Cucumber,West Virginia.I am limited with information on these families and could use all the help and information I can get.I will add more as I get it.
