I, along with some cousins, have worked diligently on our Mitchell genealogy for years and have lovingly gathered much info, photos, stories passed down and documents.
My great-grandfather, John Mitchell, was born in January 1839 in Putnam County, IN. He was apparently the son of Andrew and Mary (Gibson) Mitchell. Mary was the daughter of Garrett Gibson and the cousin of Castleton Gibson.
John Mitchell served in the Civil War (Union) 1862-1866. Most of the family moved west and settled around Frazier in Buchanan County, MO.
Other surnames: Albertson, Hohn, Roberts, Hall, Miller, Bennett, Petrees of Ray County, MO, Gordon (Clinton County, MO), Spear, Crook, Pollard, Duncan, Strode, Strother, Browning, McClanahan, Kennedy, Anderson
