I am researching David Marion Mays born October 22,1822 in Tennessee. He died October 11. 1894 in Marion County, Alabama. he married America Burleson July 11, 1841 she was the daughter of Hilkiah and Penelope (Pope) Burleson. They were the parents of 14 children . In the same period there is a Thomas Mays that married Jane G. Burleson and a Walter Mays that was in the same area as David in Alabama. These are believed to be David's brothers. Thomas Mays was born Aug. 13, 1813 it is unknown about Walter or where he was when he died. A Mays reunion is held each year in Marion County Alabama in May and another In Hamilton Alabama usually in October. This year we are including both sides of the family the Mays and Burlesons. Throughout history of them in Alabama there was alot of intermarriages wihtin these two families. There are 2 books published so far on David and Thomas sides of the family.
