Martha Eldora Cromer, born in North Carolina circa 1861, married Henry Mayers of England circa 1885. Henry traveled from Liverpool on the ship, "Egypt," and arrived in New York in 1875 (he was 25 at the time. The record shows he traveled with Sarah Mayers, age 21, but I can find no further information on her).
Martha's parents were Mary Allen (or Allan) and Henderson Cromer. Mary Allen was born in Tennessee.
Henry's parents were Mary (maiden name unknown) and James of England (place unknown).
Martha and Henry's children were Henry, William, Raymond, Mary and Fred. According to census records they had nine children, but only five survived (the census report of 1910 says six survived, but there are only five children listed). They lived in Lucas, Iowa and owned a farm.
By 1930 Henry was living in Detroit with his second wife, Dora (I can find no record of Martha's death), and his two sons Fred and Raymond.
Fred Mayers was married to Geraldine Preston and they had three children, Lana, Nora and Laurie. Geraldine also had a son from a previous marriage, Dennis Nicholas.
Fred died in Detroit in the 1980s (date uncertain).
