I began researching my mays family lines begining with my grandfather pat mays b.9-10-1908 in carter county kentucky. at wich time none of my relatives seemed to know much information concerning our ancestors. That was due to the fact my grandfather left kentucky as a young man to work in the coal mining industries of west virginia. during his lifetime he must not have educated his offspring off there lineage. I have several years experience in the field of law enforcement investigations. I wanted to use those skills to help with investigating my ancestors past. to date I have discovered my grandfathers parents: austin mays b.april 1872 died 5-5-1914 in elliott county ky. married zora evans b.2-26-1880 died 6-25-1972 beried eagle hall cemetary, soldier ky. austins father: james mays b.oct.1836, his father william mays jr b.1813. his father william sr b. 1777. his father david mays b.1750. this is the basic lineage I have several hundred more names included within the file.
